The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the national standards body of India working under the aegis of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India. One of the major functions of the Bureau is the formulation of Indian Standards which help the industry in upgrading the quality of their goods and services. It invites applications from eligible candidates for filling up the post of Scientist B across various disciplines.

Educational Qualification
- For Mechanical/ Metallurgy/ Civil/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Food/ Computer: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology or equivalent with not less than 60% marks (50% for SC/ ST candidates) in aggregate.
- For Food/ Microbiology/ Bio Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering: Master's Degree in Natural Sciences or equivalent with not less than 60% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate
Pay Scale
- Library cum Information Manager: Rs 20,000
- Lab Attendant (Technical Assistant): Rs 9000
- MIS Coordinator: Rs 13500
- Accountants: Rs 12150
Age Limit (as on 9 September 2011): Minimum 21 years; Maximum 27 years. Relaxation in age limit will be admissible as per the rules laid by Central Government
Application Fee: Application fee for General category candidates is Rs 750 and no fee will be charged from SC/ ST/ PWD/ Ex-serviceman/ Women candidates.
The payment of the fee shall be through National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) mode only. For remittance of the fee through electronic transfer mode, the candidate shall visit any Bank and the following particulars are to be provided to the Bank.

Selection Procedure: The selection procedure will comprise of written examination of 2 1/2 hour duration (120 objective type questions with multiple choice answers) followed by an interview at New Delhi.
How to Apply
- Candidates are required to apply On-Line through BIS website http://www.bis.org.in/ only.
- Candidates should have a scanned photograph of 200 * 300 pixels (20kb- 50kb) and scanned signature image of 140 * 60 pixels (10kb- 20kb). Besides they should have Applicant's Fee Payment Challan issued by the Bank containing NEFT (sixteen digits Alpha Numeric) number and other details i.e. Date of Deposit, Name of the Bank, Branch Address, etc.
- Fill up all the information desired in the form correctly along with sixteen digits (Alpha Numeric) reference number regarding remittance of fee.
- After applying on-line, the candidates are required to open their e-mail and take Print-out of the application on A-4 Size Paper and retain it after signing the same for future requirements.
- Admit Card for written test, containing the details of the Centre/Venue for the Examination etc., will be sent to the candidates at their registered e-mail ID. The candidates are required to take a print-out of their Admit Card.
