    Before appearing for the examination, students need to get an overview of the test pattern, so that they can adopt a strategy for their exam preparation. Students can check the type of questions asked in CBSE Class 12th chemistry paper for one mark questions, 2 mark questions, 4 marks questions etc.

    Students can do an analysis of all the past years’ question papers for Class 12th chemistry subject so as to understand the difficulty level, type of questions, marking scheme etc. Class 12th students are generally under stress for their board exams because they are unaware of the test pattern for their externals but with past years’ question papers, they will be relaxed and would be able to perform confidently in the examination.     Basically, the exam pattern for CBSE Class 12th chemistry has been same only the syllabus has been revised every year and some changes in the marking scheme. The generic exam pattern of CBSE Class 12th chemistry paper is as mentioned below.

    CBSE Class 12th Chemistry exam pattern

    Exam mode: Pen-paper based

    Exam duration: 3 hours

    Type of questions: very short answer type, short answer type, value-based questions, and long answer type questions

    Besides, the exam pattern of CBSE Class 12th chemistry students need to follow the exam instructions as mentioned below –

    • All questions are compulsory
    • Questions number 1 to 5 are very short answer questions and carry 1 mark each
    • Questions number 6 to 10 are very short answer question and carry 2 marks each
    • Questions number 11 to 22 are also short answer question and carry 3 marks each
    • Question number 23 is a value based question and carry 4 marks.
    • Questions number 24 to 26 are long answer question and carry 5 marks each.
    • Students can use log tables, if necessary. However, use of calculators is not allowed.
