Delhi Schools Holiday Calendar 2024: In this article, we present the full list of holidays for schools in the Delhi region for the 2024-2025 academic session. This list is carefully aligned with the school calendar released by the Directorate of School Education, Government of Delhi.

Delhi School Winter Vacation 2024-2025 Dates

The Directorate of Education (DoE) in Delhi has officially declared the winter vacation for all government schools, scheduled from January 1 to January 15, 2025. To ensure that academic progress remains uninterrupted, the DoE has introduced special remedial classes for students of Classes 9 to 12 during this break.

These classes, aimed at supporting students in Classes 9 to 12, will be conducted in both morning and evening shifts to ensure flexibility.

Morning Shift Timings:

• 1st Period: 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM
• 2nd Period: 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM
• Recess: 10:30 AM to 10:50 AM
• 3rd Period: 10:50 AM to 11:50 AM
• 4th Period: 11:50 AM to 12:50 PM

Evening Shift Timings:

• 1st Period: 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
• 2nd Period: 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM
• Recess: 3:30 PM to 3:50 PM
• 3rd Period: 3:50 PM to 4:50 PM
• 4th Period: 4:50 PM to 5:50 PM

Diwali 2024 Holidays From 30th October to 3rd November

Schools across the Delhi NCR region will remain closed for Diwali holidays from October 30 to November 3. This five-day break will provide students and their families with ample time to celebrate the Festival of Lights. Schools will resume regular classes on 4th November.

Valmiki Jayanti Holiday on October 17 in Delhi NCR

All government and private schools across Delhi NCR will remain closed on October 17, 2024, in observance of Valmiki Jayanti, which honours the birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki.

Janmashtami Holiday on August 26 (Monday)

The upcoming weekend will be a long one, as there will be a holiday on Monday, August 26, in observance of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. All Government and Private schools in the national capital region will remain closed on this day, providing a perfect opportunity for families to celebrate the auspicious occasion and spend quality time together.

School Holiday on July 17, 2024

All private and government schools in the national capital will remain closed on Wednesday, July 17, in observance of Muharram. The day marks an important occasion for the Muslim community, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain. Authorities have announced this closure to ensure safety and respect for cultural practices across the city.

Winter Vacation in Delhi Schools

Winter Vacation 2024 in Delhi started on January 1 and ended on January 6. Vacations in Delhi schools were shortened to six days as a portion of the winter vacation was observed from November 9 to November 18 necessitated by air pollution concerns. Schools reopen on January 8; however, an extension in the winter break is expected due to the harsh weather conditions, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff. Delhi's directorate of education has already announced an extension of 5 days in winter break for students up to Class 5, therefore, schools for classes up to 5 will reopen on January 12. However, for higher classes, the Delhi government will take a fresh decision on any further extension based on weather conditions.
