IIT JEE Mains 2016 rank list, issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education, has pointed out that this year the boys are dominating the list of toppers. Deepanshu Jindal, an exuberant student of Delhi has topped the JEE Mains rank list. Pratyush Maini and Rajesh Bansal have come second and third respectively in the overall rankings.
In the list of 1000 toppers, 853 are boys while only 147 girls are on it. Securing 11th rank overall, Ryali Gayathri of Telangana has scored the highest amongst the girls. The rankings are made through combinations of scores attained in the JEE Main and Class 12. While 60% of the weightage is given to JEE Main Score, 40% is added from the scores of Class 12th. On the basis of these rankings, the students could get admission in engineering institutes like NITs, IIITs and others in the BE and BTech courses.
Those candidates, who have appeared for IIT JEE Advanced, would have to wait till 1 July, when the results would come out of the JEE Advanced exams, securing admission for candidates in the IITs. The CBSE board students, like every other year, have secured the 12 out of 20 ranks in the list. State board of Telangana has scored 6 out of 20 positions and is in the second spot followed by Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
The IIT JEE Main, which is the entry level examination for the aspiring engineering students, had seen 11.28 lakh students appearing this year. Compared to the last year, the results have been declared a week earlier by the board.
