The Techkriti Open School Championship (TOSC), organized by Techkriti, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), is a landmark event for students across India. With the goal of inspiring young minds, TOSC brings together students from grades 6 to 12 in an intellectually stimulating competition that challenges mental acuity, logical thinking, and creativity. Part of IIT Kanpur's annual Techkriti fest-Asia's largest Technical and Entrepreneurial Festival-TOSC empowers students to showcase their talents, explore new interests, and build a solid foundation for the future.
What is TOSC?
TOSC is structured into two competitive phases, designed to engage students at different levels and provide them with unique learning experiences.
• Phase 1 is an online examination where students tackle questions on aptitude, reasoning, and general awareness. This phase tests foundational skills in a convenient online format, making it accessible to students nationwide.
• Phase 2 takes place on the IIT Kanpur campus, offering the top 100 participants from each pool a deeper, more interactive experience. This phase includes a series of challenges, puzzles, and engaging activities that test cognitive and analytical skills.
Alongside the competition, students have the chance to attend inspiring workshops, exhibitions on cutting-edge technology. Each year, TOSC invites renowned speakers to inspire participants with their insights. This year's anticipated speakers include Prof. HC Verma, the celebrated physicist, V. Adimurthy, ISRO scientist and key contributor to India's Mars mission, and Isaac Bari, recipient of the Global Child Prodigy Award. These thought leaders will share their journeys and insights, inspiring students to pursue their passions with purpose and resilience.
Who Can Participate?
TOSC welcomes students from three pools:
• Pool A: Grades 6-8
• Pool B: Grades 9-10
• Pool C: Grades 11-12
With this structure, TOSC ensures that participants compete within age-appropriate categories, allowing each age group to thrive and challenge themselves in a fair environment.
Rewards and Recognition
TOSC rewards top performers across all pools with prizes worth INR 5 Lakhs, including exciting tech gadgets like tablets, smartwatches, and speakers. Additionally, top participants earn certificates and exclusive opportunities, such as a visit to ISRO and science centres, adding a memorable and educational dimension to their accomplishments.
For schools, TOSC presents the Best School Award to the institution with the highest number of participants, recognizing schools' efforts in promoting science and technology among students. All participants receive certificates, marking their involvement in one of India's most prestigious school championships.
Why Participate in TOSC?
The benefits of participating in TOSC go beyond prizes. Students gain an exceptional opportunity to challenge themselves, develop critical thinking skills, and broaden their perspectives. The experience of competing at a national level, interacting with like-minded peers, and witnessing the technological marvels of IIT Kanpur leaves an indelible impact on every participant.
