NIT Sikkim Notified Admission to PhD Programmes 2015-16

National Institute of Technology Sikkim invited application from brilliant and dynamic students interested in pursuing research for Admission to PhD Courses. The candidates eligible for the courses can apply for the admission through the prescribed format on or before 15 January 2015.

Eligibility Criteria:

The general eligibility criterion for admission in all Departments/fields is given below. These eligibility conditions are the absolute minimum; Departments may prescribe any other requirements over and above the minimum criteria, subject to the approval of the Postgraduate Committee.

• Master degree in Engineering/ Technology with a minimum of 70% marks or equivalent grade; OR
• Master degree in Science with First class or minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade; OR
• Bachelor degree in Engineering/ Technology or equivalent, with minimum 75% marks or equivalent grade.

For SC/ST candidates a relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade will be considered. For admission in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, candidates meeting the above requirement must also fulfill ONE of the following additional requirements:

• Valid GATE/CEED score
• CSIR/ UGC/ NBHM/ DBT/ DST award or Fellowship
• Minimum 2 years of professional work experience, for Sponsored (FT02/ PT06), Self financed (FT03/ PT07) categories, and Institute Staff of NIT Sikkim (“Institute Staff” sub-category of PT05)
• Minimum 6 months project work experience in the Institute, for Project Staff of NIT Sikkim (“Project Staff” sub-category of PT05).
