In a recent decision by the Minister for Wakf, K.T. Jaleel, it was announced that the recruitment for Wakf Board will now get conducted through the Public Service Commission. The decision by Jaleel came after discussions with the board chairman Rasheed Ali Shihab Thangal in a closed door meeting. They decided that the existing 22 vacancies and other future vacancies in the board will be filled by the Public Service Commission from now onwards.
Addressing the people while inaugurating the State Conference of the Kerala Municipal and Corporation Staff Union, Jaleel had earlier stated that the government is planning to introduce municipal common service which would cover all the officials of the local bodies in the state giving more participation to them. The new decision to recruit candidates through PSC examinations will increase transparency and help giving chance to apply for the posts to many aspiring candidates willing to join the board.
