Punjab Teacher Global Training: When Teachers Are Empowered, an Education Revolution Is Born

A new phase in Punjab’s education journey began with the efforts of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He thinks good teachers lead to a strong education system. Since his father was a teacher, the Chief Minister knows that helping teachers is the first move to better education. So, the Punjab government has made teacher training a central part of its education reforms.

So far, over 234 principals and education officials have trained in Singapore. They learned about current school management, leadership, and new ways of teaching. Additionally, 152 senior teachers received advanced management coaching at IIM Ahmedabad and came back with fresh ideas for leading in academics.

A unique program sent 144 primary teachers to the University of Turku in Finland. This lets them see one of the world's best education systems. The Chief Minister announced that another group will go to Finland soon.

These programs are already having an impact in schools. Teaching is now more hands-on, centered on students, and uses more technology. Teachers are now serving more as mentors and guides rather than just instructors.

Hiring 1,920 campus managers has also been helpful, as it lets teachers focus on teaching instead of other duties. These changes are pushing Punjab ahead and strengthening its position in education.
