RRB NTPC Selection Process 2026

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced the RRB NTPC CBT 1 (06/2025) exam dates. The examination will be conducted from March 16 to March 27, 2026. Candidates who have applied must clearly understand the complete RRB NTPC Selection Process to prepare effectively for each stage.

Below are the stages of the RRB NTPC Recruitment 2026.

RRB NTPC CBT 1 (First Stage Computer-Based Test)

The CBT 1 exam is common for all posts under RRB NTPC recruitment. This stage is mainly conducted for screening candidates.

The marks scored in CBT 1 are normalized and used to shortlist candidates for CBT 2. This stage is qualifying in nature. Candidates should focus on accuracy and speed. Solving previous years’ RRB NTPC question papers can significantly improve performance.

RRB NTPC CBT 2 (Second Stage Computer-Based Test)

CBT 2 carries more weight in the final merit list. Candidates who qualify this stage move to the next phase, which includes skill tests depending on the post applied for.

Typing Skill Test (TST) / Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

Candidates are shortlisted (eight times the number of vacancies) for skill tests based on merit, after clearing CBT 2.

CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test) will be conducted for Station Master and Traffic Assistant. 

Typing Skill Test (TST) will be conducted for the following posts:

  • Junior Clerk cum Typist

  • Junior Time Keeper

  • Accounts Clerk cum Typist

  • Senior Clerk cum Typist

  • Junior Account Assistant cum Typist

  • Senior Time Keeper

These tests are qualifying in nature but mandatory for the respective posts.

RRB NTPC Document Verification

Candidates who clear CBT 2 and qualify in CBAT or Typing Skill Test (if applicable) are called for Document Verification based on merit and available vacancies.

Candidates must produce original documents related to the following at this stage:

  • Educational qualification

  • Category certificate (if applicable)

  • Identity proof

  • Other required certificates

Failure to provide valid documents may lead to disqualification.

RRB NTPC Medical Examination

The final stage of the RRB NTPC Selection Process is the Medical Examination. Candidates must meet the medical standards prescribed for their respective posts.
