The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is going to close the online application process for SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Examinations 2026 tomorrow. Interested and eligible candidates can apply till 15 May 2026 on the official SSC website. Under this recruitment drive, SSC will fill around 731 vacancies in various ministries, departments, organizations, and sub-offices under the Government of India. 

The candidates are advised to complete their registration process before the last date ends. As per the official schedule, the application window will remain open till 11 PM on May 15, 2026. SSC has also stated that applications will be accepted only through online mode.

Candidates appearing for the upcoming SSC Steno exam can refer to the important dates given below for their quick reference:

• Start of online application: April 24, 2026

• Last date to apply: May 15, 2026 (11 PM)

• Last date for online fee payment: May 16, 2026 (11 PM)

• Application correction window: May 20 to May 21, 2026 (11 PM)

• Computer-Based Test: July to August 2026

SSC Stenographer Exam 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in applying for the vacancies of the SSC Steno exam 2026 must fulfill all the eligibility requirements, such as educational qualifications and age limits. Check the details below.

Educational Qualifications

• Candidates must have qualified for the Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board or university with the date set as August 1, 2026.

• Candidates with stenography skills will be eligible to appear for the examination.

Age Limit

• For applicants applying for grade C posts, the minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 30 years.

• For applicants applying for grade D posts, the minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 27 years.

• The age will be calculated from August 1, 2026.

• Age relaxation for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and ex-servicemen/servicewomen as per the existing guidelines.
