IGNOU Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP): The Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar launched the Indira Gandhi National University (IGNOU) Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) on January 10, 2024. The IGNOU FYUP is introduced during the inauguration session of the 2-Day National Seminar on ‘G20 Presidency and India’s Global Leadership Role.
The IGNOU FYUP will allow a student to study one or more specialised areas of interest at an advanced level, across a range of disciplines including sciences, social sciences, arts, humanities, languages, and professional, technical, and vocational fields. What Are the Key Features of IGNOU FYUP?
The IGNOU FYUP provide holistic and multidisciplinary education that would develop thoughtful, well-rounded, and creative individuals with intellectual, aesthetic, social, physical, emotional, and moral capacities. The FYUP will enable a student to study one or more specialized areas of interest.
The IGNOU FYUP will allow a creative combination of disciplines for study and offer multiple entry and exit points. As part of the 4-year programme, students may also pursue a degree 'with Research' if they complete a rigorous project in their major area(s) of study.
IGNOU FYUP Programme Offered
IGNOU FYUP offers 19 Programmes through Open and Distance Learning (ODL). Some of the programmes include Bachelor of Commerce (BCOMF), Bachelor of Arts (Economics), Bachelor of Arts (History), Bachelor of Arts (Political Science), Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), Bachelor of Arts (Public Administration), Bachelor of Arts (Sociology), Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology), Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry), Bachelor of Arts (English), Bachelor of Arts (Hindi), Bachelor of Arts (Sanskrit), Bachelor of Arts (Urdu), Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts (Facilities and Service Management), Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy), Bachelor of Arts ( Journalism and Digital Media).

IGNOU FYUP: Multiple Exit Options
INGOU FYUP offers multiple exit options to the students. The table given below shows the exit options at different levels.

| Level 5 | I | 20 | Students can exit after completing two semesters with 40 credits and will be awarded an undergraduate certificate based on discipline-based courses. |

| Level 6 | III | 20 | Students can exit after completing four semesters with 80 credits and will be awarded an undergraduate diploma based on discipline-based courses. |

| Level 7 | V | 20 | Students can exit after completing six semesters with 1200 credits and will be awarded a Bachelor’s Degree based on discipline-based courses. |

| Level 8 | VII | 20 | Students can exit after completion of eight semesters with 160 credits and will be awarded Bachelors Degree (Research)/ Bachelors Degree (Hons.) in a specific discipline opted for specialization. |

After completing a 3-year bachelor's degree, students who score a minimum CGPA of 7.5 will be allowed to continue studies in the fourth year of the undergraduate programme leading to the Bachelor’s Degree (Research).
