UPPSC Exam Pattern 2024: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) conducts the PCS ( Provincial Civil Service) examination for the recruitment of upper subordinate vacancies in Uttar Pradesh.  Candidates preparing for the examination must go through the updated exam pattern and latest syllabus. UPPSC Exam Pattern 2024

The UPPSC PCS exam pattern 2024 comprises of three stages for selection: preliminary, main, and interview. The preliminary exam is an objective type exam that covers two papers, such as General Studies Paper 1 and General Studies Paper 2 (CSAT). The paper 1 of prelims exam will contain questions from topics such as Current events of National and International importance, Ancient, Mediaeval, and Modern History, Indian and World Geography, etc. whereas paper 2 will contain questions from topics such as comprehension interpersonal skills, general mental ability, elementary mathematics, logical reasoning, general English, general Hindi, etc.

UPPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2024

The UPPSC PCS prelims exam comprises objective-type questions for 250 marks. Check the details below

  • Paper 1 will consist of 150 questions for 200 marks and the duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
  • Paper 2 will consist of 100 questions for 200 marks and the duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
  • GS Paper 2 will be qualifying paper with minimum marks fixed at 33%.
  • Each paper will be conducted for a duration of 2 hours.
  • There shall be a negative marking of 0.33% for every incorrect answer.
  • It is mandatory for the candidates to appear in both the papers of the preliminary examination for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore, a candidate will be disqualified in case he does not appear in both papers.
  • The merit of the Candidates will be determined on the basis of marks obtained in Paper-I of the Preliminary Examination.

  • All papers shall be conventional type and for solving the questions, three hours of time is allowed. 
  • Two hundred maximum marks has been allotted for each General Studies question paper

UPPSC PCS Interview

The personality test or interview will be conducted of candidates who secure the minimum qualifying marks in the mains examination. 

  • The total marks of the interview will be 100.
  • In the interview, candidates will be judged on their character, personality and knowledge of Uttar Pradesh and India in terms of history, Geography and cultures.
