”NitishChief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar on 4 November 2012 held and presided over Adhikar Rally which turned out to be one of most historical rally in Gandhi Maidan of Patna as far as its turnout is concerned.

The main purpose of the rally held was to demand a special category status for Bihar to touch the national average on several indicators of human development index, economic growth and development.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in his speech expressed that Bihar must be given a special category status because without any help from centre it is going to  take nearly 25 years for the state to touch the national average of economic growth.

The rally was somehow successful in sending out a strong message to Central Government of Delhi which the chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed by asserting that, It is the rally of aam awam, or common people, of Bihar who think that the special state status is their birthright; if the Centre doesn't give them this right, the struggle will drip over to Delhi where a massive rally is going to organized in March 2013.

Nitish Kumar  voicing over the rally  asked the Central Government to set up a fresh committee which can draw a strategy to provide special assistance to Bihar and other states that figure much below the national average in terms of per capita income, consumption of power, education, health among others, so that they can be brought into mainstream.

To attract the crowd, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar political Party Janta Dal United (JD-U) had booked eight special trains and more than 10,000 buses to carry supporters to Patna from all over the Bihar.
