Akshay B. Gaikwad won three gold medals on second day of 15th Asian Youth Weightlifting Championships in Doha. On the other hand, Lalu Taku won a silver as well as two bronze in the championships.
In the 15th Asian Youth Weightlifting Championships, India now has a total of eight gold, five silver as well as four bronze medals overall.
Akshay B. Gaikwad won the gold each in snatch and clean and jerk (C&J) with 109kg and 135kg respectively and got the first position overall in 62 kg category.
Lalu Taku won a silver in snatch and also a bronze in clean and jerk (C&J) and completed with a total of 242 kg, which fetched him another bronze.
In 44kg girls category, Chandrika Tarafdar got the first position with a total of 131kg in two lifts. Earlier, TBC Lalchhanhima (56kg) won bronze with overall lifts of 90 kg and 130kg.
