CCEA Approved Proposal for Model Schools

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on 23 April 2010 approved a proposal to set up 1000 additional model schools with the assistance of state governments. The measure would serve as a benchmark of excellence in educationally backward blocks (EBBs).

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on 23 April 2010 approved a proposal to set up 1000 additional model schools with the assistance of state governments. The measure would serve as a benchmark of excellence in educationally backward blocks (EBBs). With the setting up of these additional schools the number of model schools to be set up would move up to 3500. The cost of setting up 2500 schools approved by the CCEA in November 2008 was estimated to be Rs. 9322 crore. The Centre's share would be Rs. 7457 crore.
