Indian football skipper Sunil Chhetri with 79 international goals broke legendary Brazilian football player Pele's goal record on October 13, 2021 during the match against the Maldives in the ongoing 2021 SAFF Championship. Sunil Chhetri surpassed Pele's International goal record of 77 goals when he scored a goal in the 62nd minute in India's match against the Maldives. 

2.(a) Gujarat

The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to extend the Border Security Force's (BSF) jurisdiction from 15 km to 50 km inside the international border along Punjab, West Bengal and Assam. With this, BSF's jurisdiction has now been expanded by 35 km in Punjab, Assam and West Bengal and cut short by 30 km in Gujarat.

3. (d) October 14th 

World Standards Day is observed annually on October 14 all over the world to create awareness about the significance of standardization to the global economy among regulators, consumers, and industry.

4. (b) India

Indian shooters have won a total of 43 medals, including 17 gold, to finish on top in the ISSF Junior World Championship which concluded on October 10, 2021. The Indian shooters won all the available 12 medals on the final competition day of the top junior tournament at the Las Palmas Shooting Range in Lima, the Capital of Peru.

5. (a) Japan 

Japan and Singapore have topped the Henley Passport Index 2021 with their passport holders allowed to travel visa-free to 192 countries. It is for the third consecutive year that Japan has secured the top position.

India, which was at the 84th position in 2020, fell down to 90th rank in the Henley Passport Index 2021 with its passport holders allowed to travel visa-free to 58 countries around the world. India shares the rank with Tajikistan and Burkina Faso this year.

India has been ranked at the third position in the 58th edition of EY’s Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index’ (RECAI). The index ranks the world’s top 40 markets on the attractiveness of their renewable energy investment and deployment opportunities. 

8. (a) US

The United States has been ranked first and China has been placed at second place on EY’s Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index’ (RECAI). India was ranked third, followed by France and the United Kingdom at fourth and fifth place respectively.
