It seems that U.S. voters have chosen Republican nominee Donald Trump for a second non-consecutive term in the White House after a tough election campaign. Here's how the U.S. government system differs from that of  India’s.

Unlike India where the chosen government works for a period of five years, the tenure of the US President is only 4 years.

The voters of the US appear to have given their verdict in favour of the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for a second non-consecutive term in the White House following an intense election campaign. In terms of the electoral college votes that will decide the outcome of this election, Trump has 267 and is poised for a landslide victory, while Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, is in second place with 214.

Regarding swing states, Trump has managed to secure four key battleground states.

Donald Trump to Become 47th President of the USA

Donald Trump has won the 2024 U.S. presidential election, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris. With 270 electoral votes, Trump has secured the majority needed to become the 47th President of the United States.

Official Announcement Yet to Declared

Following Tuesday's vote, Donald Trump stated that he is "very confident" that he will regain the White House following his ballot-casting in Florida on Election Day in one of the most controversial US elections in decades.

The official announcement of the election result will take weeks, however, with such a landslide victory it is almost decided that Trump will be the next President of the US.

How is American System Different than India?

Unlike India where the chosen government works for a period of five years, the tenure of the US President is only 4 years.

It is also stated in the American Constitution that a person can be elected U.S. President a maximum of two times, allowing them to serve for up to 8 years. This rule was established by the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which prevents anyone from being elected President more than twice.

Unlike the United States, India has no term limits for the Prime Minister or President. The same person can hold these positions multiple times, as long as they have enough political support.
