In a study published in the British medical journal, the lancet, on 16 november it was revealed that Europe is infected by drug resistant superbug Clostridium difficile(C-diff). The number of infected patients increased from 2.45 per 10000 patients to 4.1 per 10000 patients as per Lancet study.
According to the Lancet C-diff infection rates are high in Finland, Britain and Poland. The Lancet had done study in 34 European countries.
C-diff is a spore forming bacterium discovered in 1978 is the cause behind antibiotic associated diarrhea and colitis.
