First Blood Bank for Dogs in Asia

Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University started a blood bank for dogs on 26 April 2010. With the opening of the facility in Chennai it became the first university in Asia, after the US and UK, to start the blood bank service.

With the opening of the facility in Chennai it became the first university in Asia, after the US and UK, to start the blood bank service. Eight varieties of dog blood had been identified. A black Labrador was the first to donate blood.
