India’s ‘MyGov Corona Helpdesk’ bags two international awards at CogX2020

MyGov Corona helpdesk has won the awards under the ‘People’s Choice COVID-19 Overall Winner’ and ‘Best innovation for COVID-19 Society’ categories.

‘MyGov Corona Helpdesk’, which is Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled, has won two international awards at CogX2020. The Helpdesk was awarded at Global Leadership Summit and Festival of Al & Emerging Technology, in London.

The helpdesk aims at providing timely updates to help citizens in clearing their queries regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. As per the statement, the two awards were won by the technical partner of MyGov, Jio Haptik Technologies Ltd.

Winning two awards at CogX2020:

CogX2020 is one of the world’s largest event on Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is held annually in London with over 15,000 participants in attendance from the world of government, business, research, and industry.

The Indian chatbot was chosen among hundreds of entries after a rigorous evaluation. The chatbot was selected for making a difference to the society amid the COIVID-19 pandemic.

With a live digital pitch in the front of worldwide judges and audiences, the Jio Haptik team was given the award for facilitating Al enabled technology solutions for ‘MyGov Corona Helpdesk’. This helped in safeguarding lives amid the pandemic.

Aakrit Vaish, Haptik CEO and Co-Founder acknowledged that the healthcare professionals are the real winners of this honor as they have been battling this pandemic 24x7.

What is My Gov Corona helpdesk?

It is the world’s largest citizen engagement platform that is responsible for facilitating two-way communication between the citizens and the government.

In response to the outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic, the chatbot received more than 76 million messages and has processed over 41 million conversations.

Abhishek Singh, CEO of MyGov states that the right communication strategy and leveraging technology has been an essential strategy to deal with the pandemic. MyGov has acted as a bridge between the government and the citizens. It ensured citizen participation and information dissemination on platforms that are mostly used by the citizens. He added that the helpdesk has improved engagement and outreach.

Development of MyGov Corona Helpdesk:

To fight against COVID-19, MyGov, WhatsApp Team, and Jio Haptik Technologies Limited had collaborated to develop an AI-enabled ‘MyGov Corona Helpdesk’ in the record time of just five days.

As per Aakrit Vaish, Haptik CEO and Co-Founder, the government’s support was a key driver in developing the ‘MyGov Corona Helpdesk’ in the record time. He added that being recognized at the global technology summit has strengthened our belief that the technology is meant to benefit society in the long run.

With the active involvement of Jio Haptik, WhatsApp, and the government, the chatbot has helped over 28 million Indians stay informed by providing a platform that gives the latest information on COVID-19 and curbs misinformation and rumors.
