Israel agreed to release 104 Palestinian Prisoners

To resume peace talks with Palestine, Israel agreed to release 104 palestinian prisoners. The peace talks have been stalled since 2010.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel on 27 July 2013 announced that Israel will release 104 Palestininan Prisoners. The decision was taken as a confidence building measure in phases, for the upcoming peace talks with the Palestinians. The matter of releasing the prisoners, now require approval from the Israeli Cabinet.

The Israeli Cabinet is also set to endorse a draft bill that would submit a peace treaty with the Palestinians for a referendum. The treaty would be ratified only after being approved by the Government and the parliament.

The peace talks between the two nations have been stalled since 2010 and to resume the talks, Mahmoud Abbas, the President of Palestine has demanded freedom of the Palestinian prisoners, who are in prisons of Israel for more than 20 years.
