Nirmala Sitharaman ranks 34th in Forbes’ 100 Powerful Women of 2019

Nirmala Sitharaman surpassed Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump and Queen Elizabeth II in the list.

Nirmala Sitharaman’s name has been included in the list of top Forbes' 100 most Powerful Women List of 2019. She is India’s former Defence Minister and current Finance Minister. Sitharaman also surpassed Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump and Queen Elizabeth II in the list. 

Along with Sitharaman, Roshni Nadar Malhotra, CEO and Executive Director of HCL Corporation and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, founder of Biocon, are included in the list. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has topped the Forbes 2019 'The World's 100 Most Powerful Women' list.

Forbes Top 100 Most Powerful Women List: Indian Connection 
• Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been ranked 34th in Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Woman List.
• Queen Elizabeth II is ranked 40th and Ivanka Trump is ranked 42nd in the list.
• Nadar Malhotra is ranked 54th in this list. She is responsible for all strategic decisions of the USD 8.9 billion tech company. 
• Kiran Mazumdar Shaw ranks 65th in this list. She is an Indian billionaire entrepreneur.

Forbes Top 100 Most Powerful Women List: Global Scenario 
The list includes Melinda Gates (6th), IBM CEO Jinny Rometty (9th), Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg (18th), Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (29th), New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern (38th), Ivanka Trump (42nd), Rihanna (61st) Beyoncé (66th), Taylor Swift (71st), tennis star Serena Williams (81st) and environmental activist Greta Thunberg are ranked 100th. 

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has managed to top this list for the ninth consecutive year. Forbes wrote about her that Merkel is fighting anti-refugee sentiments in Europe. European Central Bank Chief Christine Lagarde (2nd) and Speaker of the US Parliament Nancy Pelosi (3rd) are among the top 100 powerful women of the world.
