The Cabinet Committee on Security on 17 Feb 2010 approved the opening of an Officers Training Academy at Gaya in Bihar in addition to the one in Chennai to deal with the problem of shortage of Army officers. The academy with state-of-the art infrastructure and training facilities will provide training to 250 officer cadets annually in the initial phase. In due course it will be upgraded to train 750 officer cadets. The project would cost approximately Rs 360 crore.
