Power distribution company NDPL on 16 June 2011 introduced advanced hand-held thermo scanning radars for network maintenance similar to what the traffic police used for checking speeding vehicles.
The thermo scanning radars use infrared thermography technique to detect any glitch in the network equipments like circuit breakers, power transformers and other network equipment. The infrared technology is used to capture any abnormal heat level within the equipment which is then further tested for any malfunctioning.
