Siemens India nailed an order worth two ninety million Euros from National Mineral Development Corporation (NDMC), which is state run, for developing basic oxygen furnace converter for steel marking.
The contract has been awarded to a consortium which is led by Siemens Vai Metals Technologies, SEW infrastructure and Mukand Engineers. The steel works is scheduled to be built at a place called Nagarnar in Chattisgarh with an annual capacity of around three million tones steel. The completion of the steel work is scheduled by mid of 2015.
While, SEW Infrastructure and Mukand Engineers, would be responsible for the civil works, manufacturing and erection of the steel structures, general erection of equipment, Siemens would be in charge of the design and turnkey supply of the steel plant, including the two LD (BOF) converters, two 175-tonne de-sulfurisation plants, two ladle furnaces and a degassing plant.
The turnkey supply also includes material handling systems, primary and secondary de-dusting systems, a gas recovery plant and a water treatment plant apart from the other mentioned. NMDC’s steelmaking plant is part of a national programme which is being steered to increase the steel production capacity in India.
