UP Government constituted SIT to probe Badaun case

Uttar Pradesh Government has constituted a four-member SIT to probe the Badaucase. The SIT will be headed by Mukesh Saxena.

State government of Uttar Pradesh on 6 June 2014 constituted a four-member Special Investigating Team (SIT) to probe the Badaun case. The SIT will be headed by the Circle Officer of Ujhaini, Mukesh Saxena.

Background
Two minor cousin sisters aged 14 and 15 were abducted and murdered in Katra Sadatganj village of Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. The girls went missing on 27 May 2014 and their bodies were found next hanged with a tree on 28 May 2014.


This incident of the state has led to criticism of the state government and sparked outrage across the country. Apart from this, the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also demanded an action against the sexual violence in Uttar Pradesh and appealed to society to reject the destructive attitude of boys will be boys.
