UP government ordered magisterial inquiry into group clashes in Meerut

UP government ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Meerut group clashes. The inquiry will be conducted by Meerut DM, Randeep Rinwa.

The State Government of Uttar Pradesh on 11 May 2014 ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Meerut group clashes in which about twenty people were injured. The inquiry will be conducted by the District Magistrate of Meerut, Randeep Rinwa.

Authorities have registered cases against 200 persons of the area after the clash that happened in the area on 10 May 2014. The group clash broke over a dispute of construction of a water kiosk near a mosque in the Teergaran area of the city.

Actions taken to culminate such incidences in the region
As part of the action to stop such clashes in the region the state government has deployed Rapid Action Force and six companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). It has also initiated confidence-building measures in the area by beefing up security.

Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh is connected to Muzaffarnagar that witnessed a communal violence in form of riots in December 2013. The area is yet in the mode of recovery from the damages caused during the then riots.
