Answers:

1. (a) Italy

The Black Sea is a marginal Mediterranean sea lying between Europe and Asia. It lies to the east of the Balkans in Southeast Europe and drains into the Mediterranean Sea. The countries bordering the Black Sea include Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Turkey and Romania. 

2. (c) February 25th

National War Memorial's 3rd anniversary was observed on February 25, 2022. The Chiefs of the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force laid wreaths at the National War Memorial to commemorate the occasion.

3. (a) India

The Indian Navy is hosting multilateral exercise called MILAN 2022 from February 25, 2022 in Andhra Pradesh's Vishhakhapatnam. The exercise will take place over a period of nine days and will provide the navy with opportunities to collaborate with its counterparts from across the world.

4. (d) Ukraine

Ukraine is not a NATO member country, it is a NATO partner country. The other three former Soviet Republics- Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are now NATO members. 

5. (d) 30

NATO alliance has a total of 30 member countries including 2 North American countries, 27 European countries and 1 Eurasian country. Under the alliance, the member countries have agreed to come to one another's aid in the event of armed attack against any one member state. 

6. (d) North Macedonia  

North Macedonia is the last country to join the NATO alliance as a member state. It joined the alliance in 2020. Before that Montenegro joined the alliance in 2017. 

7. (d) Maheswari Amma

KPAC Lalitha passed away on February 22, 2022 in Kochi after battling a liver-related ailment for a long time. The veteran actor was born as Maheswari Amma in Kayamkulam, Alappuzha. She starred in over 550 films in Malayalam and Tamil in her nearly five-decade career.

8. (b) Asha Parekh

Asha Parekh was honoured with Outstanding Contribution to Films award at Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2022. The  Film of the Year award went to 'Pushpa: The Rise' and Best International Feature Film award went to Another Round, a comedy-drama film directed by Thomas Vinterberg.

9. (a) Israel

Israel has successfully tested a new naval air defence system called 'C-Dome'. It is a naval version of Israel's Iron Dome, which is an air defence system that can intercept and destroy short range rockets and missiles.

10. (d) 2031

NASA has announced that the International Space Station (ISS) will cease its functioning by 2031. The space agency plans to make the space station fall in the Pacific Ocean after its operation are brought to an end. The ISS has been in operations for over two decades.

11. (c) Jet Airways

Former CEO of SriLankan Airlines, Vipula Gunatilleka has been appointed as the chief financial officer (CFO) of the grounded Jet Airways. He was serving as the CEO of Sri Lankan airways till last month. He has now been tasked with reviving the grounded carrier.

12. (a) Vladimir Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin announces the recognition of two separatist republics in eastern Ukraine - Donetsk and Lugansk - as independent through a televised address on February 21, 2022. The Russian President has also ordered the sending of Russian Armed Forces to the two breakaway regions.

13. (c) February 21st

International Mother Language Day 2022 is celebrated across the world on February 21st to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

14. (b) Bangladesh

The idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day came first from Bangladesh. The idea was approved at the 1999 UNESCO General Conference.  The day has been observed every year since the year 2000.

15. (c) February 19th

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti is observed annually on February 19. This year, the 392nd birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the great Maratha warrior, was celebrated on February 19, 2022.
