The much-awaited Ayodhya Ram Mandir was inaugurated on January 22, 2024, by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At 12:20 p.m., the pran-pratishtha, or consecration ceremony, commenced and continued until 1:00 p.m. The event took place on January 18, three days after the idol of Ram Lalla was placed at the "garbha griha" of the Ram Mandir. Arun Yogiraj, a skilled sculptor from Mysuru, created the 51-inch-tall idol of the highly esteemed Hindu deity out of black stone. The idol shows the adored deity in a youthful form, elegantly standing tall atop a lotus. Gold, diamonds, gemstones, and flowers also adorn Lord Ram.
World Records Created
1. In a remarkable display of devotion, a Guinness World Record was created in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, two days before the inauguration. An astounding 33,258 'diyas' (earthen lamps) were meticulously lit to spell out the mantra "Siyavar Ramchandra ki Jai." This grand event took place on the Chanda Club grounds and served as a lead-up to the upcoming idol consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The ceremony, conducted on January 20, gained significance with the attendance of State Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.
2. Meanwhile, a group of committed Allahabad University students connected with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also made history with an ambitious artistic project. Fueled by national pride and spiritual dedication, these 40 students (30 women and 10 men) set out to make the world's largest rangoli. Their canvas was the Magh Mela region, where they drew a spectacular 50-foot-long, 30-foot-wide rangoli. The rangoli was unveiled on Monday, along with the auspicious consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This artistic marvel, now recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records, vividly captured the essence of the sacred Ram temple and the revered Ram Lalla.
3. Renowned sand artist and Padmashree winner Sudharsan Pattanaik created sand art depicting Lord Shri Ram and the Ram Mandir. The installation of 500 miniature replicas of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya set a new world record.
