What is the NYT Connections Game?
NYT Connections is a daily word puzzle by the New York Times that challenges your ability to spot connections between unrelated words. Each puzzle gives you a 4x4 grid of 16 words, and you are tasked with sorting them into four groups of four words. The puzzle uses a colour-coded difficulty: yellow (easy), green (medium), blue (hard), and purple (most challenging).
How to Play the NYT Connections Puzzle
Playing Connections is easy (in theory). You have to figure out four categories with four words each. Once you think you have a group, hit submit. If you are right, the group gets locked in. If wrong, you lose one attempt. You are allowed only four attempts.
Best Strategies to Solve NYT Connections Puzzles
There are 16 words and four possible categories. Look for easy, obvious categories like food, seasons, colours, etc. Some of the categories are straightforward (usually yellow), while others require work. Keep an eye out for puns, homophones, or sly references. Make use of shuffle and reading the words out loud. If still stuck, take a break and come back with a fresh mind.
