The 31st Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards took place on February 23, 2025, at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, celebrating outstanding performances in film and television. Hosted by Kristen Bell and streamed live on Netflix, the event honored actors and ensembles who delivered exceptional work over the past year.
A highlight of the evening was Jane Fonda receiving the SAG Life Achievement Award, acknowledging her remarkable career and humanitarian efforts. In her acceptance speech, Fonda emphasized the importance of empathy and the role of unions in supporting actors.
The SAG Awards are considered one of the most important events in the entertainment industry, as they are voted on by fellow actors. Many believe that these awards can give a hint about who might win at the Oscars. Along with honoring performances, the event also includes a special Lifetime Achievement Award to recognize an actor’s contribution to the industry.
These awards often serve as a precursor to the Oscars, with many winners going on to receive Academy Awards. This year's ceremony continued that tradition, highlighting performances that have resonated with both audiences and critics.
