New York City tops the list once again, with 123 billionaires calling it home. Together, they’re worth about $759 billion. NYC has led the list in all but one of the past twelve years—Beijing took the top spot in 2021. Most of New York’s billionaires made their money in finance and investing (68 of them), followed by real estate (13) and fashion or retail (12).
Moscow is second on the list, with 90 billionaires—an increase of 16 from the year before. Their total net worth is around $409 billion. This growth has pushed Moscow ahead of Hong Kong, which shared second place last year.
Hong Kong now ranks third, with 72 billionaires. It’s also one of three Chinese cities in the top ten.
London, which had been slipping down the list in recent years, saw a rebound. It added nine more billionaires, moving the British capital up to fourth place.
Mumbai dropped two spots and now sits at number six, with 67 billionaires worth $349 billion.
