What is Flipside?

Think of Flipside as your Instagram "finsta" reimagined, but official. It's a separate profile within your existing account, accessible only to a select group of friends you choose. You can customise your Flipside with a different bio, and profile picture, and even post different content than your main feed. It's a space for silly selfies, unfiltered thoughts, and inside jokes shared exclusively with those who get you.

This feature was first noticed by Alessandro Paluzzi in December 2023 and he mentioned: “#Instagram continues to work on "Flipside" Only people you choose can see this side of your profile and what you share here. Everything you share on Flipside is still subject to community guidelines.”

Adam mentions, “we're not even sure we'll launch it on Instagram. On one hand it feels good to create a clear space that feels more private. On the other, it's yet another way to reach a smaller audience on top of secondary accounts and Close Friends. We'll see how people respond in the test, and iterate forward.”
