Winter School Holiday 2025: Extend Due to Cold Weather, Pongal and Makar Sankranti Festival, Check list of states here

Pongal Holidays 2025: For the occasion of Pongal and Makar Sankranti, the states of Tamil Nadu and Telangana have declared school holidays. Keep reading to know the dates. 

School Holidays 2025: Several states in India have begun declaring holidays for Makar Sankranti and Pongal. Schools in some regions will have a four-day holiday while others will have five- day holiday. The northern states will get a long weekend because the second Saturday and Sunday fall close together. Tamil Nadu and Telangana will enjoy longer holidays, lasting up to a week. It will be the perfect time for everyone to spend some time with their family. 

Telangana School Holidays 2025

The Telangana Board Of Intermediate Education has announced holidays for all intermediate colleges on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. The holidays will start on 11th January 2025 and continue until 16th January 2025. The Classes will begin again on Friday, 17 January.

This holiday applies to all junior colleges. It includes government, private, and aided colleges, as well as residential schools, social welfare and tribal welfare schools, BC welfare schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, model schools, and degree colleges that offer two-year Intermediate courses.

Tamil Nadu School Holidays 2025

The state of Tamil Nadu has announced a five-day holiday for the schools to celebrate the wonderful festival of Pongal. This festival is important for Tamils. Pongal marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring, making it a special time for Tamil culture and farming traditions.

The schools, colleges and government offices in Tamil Nadu will be closed from 14 January 2025 to 17th January 2025. This holiday break will allow the students to enjoy with their families and take part in the festival's celebrations and traditions.

Ghaziabad School Holiday 2025

Due to the cold wave, the schools will be closed for classes 1 to 8 until 18 January 2025. The order applies to all councils and secondary schools affiliated with the UP Board, CBSE, ICSE, and other boards.

Patna School Holidays 2025

Schools will remain closed for classes 8th until January 15, 2025, while teaching time has been restricted to 9 am to 3:30 pm for classes above 8. 

Rajasthan School Holidays 2025

In Rajasthan, the schools be closed until January 14 for classes up to 8 and classes 9 to 12 will operate with revised timings starting from 10 am.

Gorakhpur School Holidays 2025

In Gorakhpur, the classes will resume from January 15, 2025. Until then, all the schools including private,  government and Anganwadi will remain closed. 

Jammu and Kashmir School Holidays 2025

The School Education Department in Jammu and Kashmir has announced that schools up to Class 5 are closed from December 10, 2024, to February 28, 2025, and schools for Classes 6 to 12 are closed from December 16, 2024, to February 28, 2025.
