Tamil Nadu School Holidays: Are Schools Closed Today Due to Orange, Yellow Alert?

TN School Holidays: As per media reports, the Regional Meteorological Department has issued rainfall alerts for the regions of Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Chennai, and Chengalpattu. Heavy rainfall is expected in these areas today, December 18, 2024. An orange alert has also been issued for these areas. According to reports, schools in these regions are expected to remain closed. However, officials have not yet confirmed the closure of schools. 

Other regions including Villupuram, Cuddalore and Puducherry have been issued a yellow alert for today with moderate rainfall expected. As per the weather department, light to moderate rain is expected over a few places in Tamil Nadu with thunderstorms and lightning. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram districts and heavy rainfall is expected in Villupuram, Cuddalore and Puducherry.

With an orange alert issued in four districts, schools are likely to remain closed in these areas. Students and parents are advised to contact school authorities regarding the school holidays.
