Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on 26 February 2013 invited nominations for CSIR Awards for S & T Innovations for Rural Development 2013. A team of Indian citizens or Company/ Organization can send in their nominations till 15 March 2013 for the S & T innovation that had originated or was applied in India with a major Indian component.
The award carries a cash award of Rs 10 lakh along with a citation or a plaque for S & T innovation that originated or was applied in India with a significant Indian component by any Indian Team or organization.
The criteria for the aforesaid award includes an innovation that made an exemplar shift in standards of quality of life; displayed competitive benefits and positive user response; helped in creating rural employment; or has demonstrated a new way of conducting business to achieve social and economic transformation in the domain of rural development.
Candidates will initially be shortlisted amongst the total applications received by a committee of eminent experts from diverse disciplines followed by selection by a high-level expert committee chaired by an eminent rural development expert / social scientist/ technologist / Chairman of the CSIR Advisory Board. The awards are usually given along with the CSIR Diamond Jubilee Technology Award and Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Prizes.
Candidates/ organizations can send in their nominations in soft and hard copy latest by 28 March 2013 to Head, Planning and Performance Division (PPD), Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Anusandhan Bhawan, 2 Rafi Marg, New Delhi-110 001.
