UP Diwali Holiday 2024: According to the government order in Uttar Pradesh, this year Diwali holiday will be on October 31. After this, holiday has also been declared on the occasion of Govardhan Puja on November 2 and Bhai Dooj on November 3. In this way, UP will get three special holidays during Diwali, so that people can celebrate the festival with their families. Diwali holidays in council and recognized schools run by Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council are from 31 October to 3 November. Maharashtra: There will be a government holiday on the day of Diwali on November 1 and 2. Schools may have 7 to 10 days of holidays for students around Diwali.

Madhya Pradesh: All government offices and schools will remain closed on November 1 and 2 on the occasion of Diwali in Madhya Pradesh.

When is diwali celebrated in 2024? 

According to Drik Panchang, Diwali falls on  Thursday, October 31. Meanwhile, Lakshmi Puja will also be performed on October 31, as the Amavasya moon will be visible that evening. 

Drikpanchang mentions: "The most auspicious time to do Diwali Puja is after sunset. The time period after sunset is known as Pradosh. The day of Diwali Puja is decided when Amavasya Tithi prevails during Pradosh."
