Eligibility Test for College Admissions granted by National Education Draft Policy

Jun 24, 2016 11:40 IST

Former Union Minister Vijay Goel has recently announced that the National Education Draft Policy has accepted the demand of eligibility test for the undergraduate college admissions. Goel has been instrumental about this for the last six years and has been a part of the movement ever since. He recently addressed the gathering of students at Mavlankar Hall and announced that the National Education Draft Policy has accepted the eligibility test norm for college students.

Apart from the demand of including eligibility test for admission in the Delhi colleges, Goel said they are focusing on providing five percent weightage in the cutoff list to the students who have completed their class XII from Delhi CBSE. Along with these demands, there is also a demand for 85 percent reservation in the 18 colleges which are funded completely by the Delhi government. Opening new colleges and beginning evening colleges in the existing ones is also in the cards for Goel in the long run. He further announced that the New National Policy of Education draft report has also shown support to his demand for eligibility test after class XII for the college admissions. He said, “I will also meet Union Education Minister Smriti Irani for the same.”

The inclusion of eligibility test in the college admission would mean fair admission procedure without any special privileges offered to students from any particular state or boards. Opening up new colleges and increasing the student intake would make the cut off lists more relaxed for the colleges in undergraduate courses.
