Engineering Colleges with best Placement Record in South India

Superlative titles such as ‘largest producers of engineers in the world’ and an annual output of 1.5 million engineering graduates, presents engineering as one of the most lucrative and rewarding career choices available in India. To top this, engineering colleges, especially private engineering institutes are known to presence placement figures that can rival the annual turnover of any corporate entity. With assured placement programmes and nearly 100% placement record, all top ranking engineering colleges advertise these statistics as their prime marketing strategy. But the reality is far from these numbers!

    Engineering Placements in South India

According to the third edition of the National Employability Report for Engineers, of the total 1.5 million engineering graduates, only 20% are deemed as suitable for software jobs while a minuscule 7.49% are competent enough to be employed for core engineering jobs. In fact, the report quotes Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the bottom 25 percentile, when it comes to employable engineering candidates. Despite being one of the largest engineering hubs in India, engineering institutes in south India rank poorly when it comes to engineering placements for their students.

Is Engineering a Bad Career Choice?

So, does that mean that engineering aspirants should quit their dream career and opt for something more lucrative? The simple answer is NO! While presenting depressing figures for engineering placements, the report nowhere states that engineering is a bad career choice. On the contrary, it goes on to highlight the vast lacuna of skilled, qualified and employable engineers in different industrial processes. Therefore, for engineering aspirants, the key to cracking the code of engineering placements lie in trying to opt for engineering institutes that have excellent academic programmes along with effective placement strategy to get their students the best possible engineering jobs in India.

However, when every other institute is marketing its engineering programme with 100% placement record, it is not easy to make this choice. Understanding this challenge for engineering aspirants, we have compiled a list of top engineering colleges in south India with the best placement programme. The list is not only based upon hyped placement figures published by the colleges. It is prepared after comprehensive research on different important factors like placement record, average placement package and domain expertise of the institutes.

    1. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

There is a reason, why IIT-M has emerged at the top of this list. Apart from being one of best engineering colleges in India, the institute has maintained exceptional consistency, when it comes to placement of their students.
