The Government of India, in line with the announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has declared that from January 1, 2016 onwards there will be no interviews conducted for various junior levels in different government ministries and departments. The ministries and departments are however allowed to conduct skill test or physical test for various junior level posts.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) regarding the decision said, “From 1st January 2016, there will be no recruitment with interview at the junior level posts. The decision to discontinue interview for recruitments is for all Group C, Group D (now reclassified as Group C) posts and for non-gazetted posts of Group B category and all such equivalent posts.”
The latest decision of the government will be implemented to all the subordinated offices, autonomous bodies and PSUs and government ministries and departments soon. The proposal will be implemented to the bodies through phases and the entire countrywide offices under central government will have to follow the model from now onwards. In case the ministries and departments under the government want to continue taking interview of the lower level candidates, they need to send detailed proposal seeking exemption to the DoPT with the ministry/minister in-charge’s approval.
This move is expected to bring smiles to many such candidates who fare very well at the written test or skill test but are on the backseat while attempting for personal interview round, due to lack of confidence. This will give confidence to the many candidates who fear the outcome of sitting one to one for a personal interview for the selection.
