The Haryana government has decided to appoint retired teachers on contract basis in order to fill the vacant posts in schools.
The Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has given approval to the proposal of recruiting retired teachers of up to 65 years of age, said a government spokesperson on Wednesday.
Complementing the petition regarding teachers' recruitment in the state that is pending in the court, the appointment of retired teachers is to be sought so that students would not suffer, said the spokesperson.
Apart from this, the government has also decided to extend the services of those who are going to retire in the mid academic session, said the spokesperson, adding that the textbooks have been supplied to most government schools and students would get them within two days.
