JBIMS Mumbai - one of the top MBA colleges in Maharashtra, is expected to follow DTE CAP process for MBA admission 2018. The news has spread a cheer among the MBA aspirants not only in Maharashtra but also throughout the country as the B-school is considered to be one of the top MBA colleges in India as well.
This year, the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai will offer admission to MBA aspirants to MMS 2018 – 20 batch through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) conducted by the DTE Maharashtra. The Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra will conduct the CAP 2018 in the month of May to select candidates for admission to B-schools in Maharashtra. Admission to JBIMS’s MMS programme will also be done through this process.
Since the start MAH-CET 2018 registration process, MBA aspirants were worried about the admission procedure that would be followed by JBIMS for MMS programme. But, as the college has refrained from announcing any specific admission procedure for MMS admission, it is expected that the B-school will follow the DTE CAP process to admit students.
If this turns out to be true, it means that JBIMS Mumbai will also not hold any separate GD / PI rounds for selection of candidates for admission. Simply put, JBIMS will not conduct any separate admission shortlisting of candidates instead will select candidates through DTE CAP 2018. Therefore, candidates interested in securing a seat for MMS programme at JBIMS need not apply separately for it.
Since being granted autonomous status in 2014, JBIMS has conducted its own admission process in the last three years to select and admit MBA aspirants to MMS programmes. In 2016, JBIMS had first announced that the B-school will offer admission to the flagship MMS programme through its own independent admission process. However, later on, the B-school took a U-turn and accepted the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) through which DTE Maharashtra offers admission to over 400 B-schools in the state. However, as there has been no independent announcement from the B-school, the JBIMS Mumbai is likely to continue with the DTE CAP route for MMS Admission 2018.
With JBIMS Mumbai accepting the DTE CAP 2018 process for MMS admission 2018, the B-school will automatically accept the scores of MBA entrance exams that are approved by DTE Maharashtra. This means that CAT 2017, CMAT 2018 and MAH-CET 2018 scores will only be accepted for admission to MMS programme at JBIMS. Until last year, JIBMS Mumbai also accepted ATMA MBA entrance test score for admission as well.
With the total intake of around 120 seats for the flagship MMS programme, JBIMS will have 18 seats reserved for all-India candidates. For all-India candidates, scores of only two national level MBA entrance tests i.e. CAT 2018 and CMAT 2018 will be accepted for admission process. The DTE Maharashtra will announce the merit list and cut offs for all-India candidates separately after the completion of DTE CAP 2018 process.
The Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai is termed as one of the best MBA colleges in Maharashtra and India alike. The B-school offers its flagship programme i.e. MMS or Masters in Management Studies with the annual intake of 120 students. Due to its legacy, excellent industry interface and excellent placements, the B-school features in the wish list of almost every MBA aspirant. On top of that, the MBA institute is also a preferred destination for MBA aspirants because of high ROI and low fees, compared to other autonomous private / unaided B-schools.
