Students work hard day and night for JEE preparation but sometimes due to some mistakes their application form get cancelled or they don’t know the requirements for appearing in JEE. So, here we have compiled frequently asked questions that might help those who are going to appear in JEE 2018.
Below are the brief about JEE:
JEE is a national level entrance examination divided into two stages – JEE Main and JEE Advanced (Both having objective pattern)
JEE Main 2017 was conducted in two papers as follows:
– Paper 1(for admission to B.E./ B.Tech)
– Paper-2 (for admission to B. Arch/B. Planning courses)
Candidates could opt for Paper 1 or Paper 2 or for both
JEE-Main exam offers admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs).

And those candidates who cleared JEE Main 2017 were eligible to write and appeared for JEE Advanced 2017.
JEE Advanced exam offers admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
A total of around 12 lakh students applied for JEE Main 2017 and the candidates appearing in JEE increasing each year.
Here we are going to answer such queries which have been asked from all over the India.
Q 1. What is the difference between online and offline mode of JEE Main 2018 examination?
Ans.In online mode, students have to appear for the examination through computer. Students can view only one question at a time on their computer screen. They can view the next questions after clicking Next Question button.
In offline mode, students get one question paper along with the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet. Students have to fill the corresponding bubble after solving the question given on the question paper.
Q 2. What if candidate forget his/her JEE Main Application No / Password?
Ans. In this case, the candidate will have to click on the link I can't access my account. Then he/she can select any one out of the two options given below:
- I forgot my Password
- I forgot my Application Number
Thereafter, he/she can recover his/her account with the help of any one out of the three options given below:
- Using Security Question & its Answer you chosen during Form filling
- Using a verification code sent via text message (SMS) to your Registered Mobile No
- Using a reset link sent via Email to your Registered Email address
Q 3. Whom should candidate contact for any further assistance and queries?
Ans. Candidate can approach JEE Main authorities using the helpline numbers 91-11-7042399520, 7042399521, 7042399525, 7042399526, 1800-11-8002
Q 4. I have attempted JEE once, how many chances do I have left with me?
Ans. The candidates can appear for JEE Main only 3 times in total. Thus, if any student has already attempted JEE once, then he/she has left with only 2 attempts.
Q 5: What should candidate do if he/she is not able to download admit card of JEE Main 2018?
Ans. He/she should immediately contact JEE Main authorities using the helpline numbers 91-11-7042399520, 7042399521, 7042399525, 7042399526, 1800-11-8002 and tell the issue as soon as possible.
Q 6. The candidates applied for both paper 1 & Paper 2 but do not want to appear in Paper –2 or Paper -1.
Ans. It is not compulsory for the students that they will have to appear in both papers, they can appear in the paper of their choice.
Q 7. Is Aadhar Card mandatory for filling the application form?
Ans. Yes, it is necessary to enter the Aadhar card number in the application form.
Q 8. Are diploma candidate eligible for JEE Main 2018?
Ans. Diploma holders are not eligible for admissions in NITs and CFTIs through the JEE Main channel. But, yes they can apply for JEE Main 2018 as they can appear in JEE Advanced 2018. This can only be possible if qualify JEE Main 2018.
Q 9. How can OCI/PIO/NRI candidates apply without Aadhar card?
Ans. Overseas citizens of India, Person of Indian origin, Non-Resident Indians are required to enter their passport details.
Q 10. Will the correction facility be provided in changing the exam centres?
Ans. Yes, this facility is being given. Candidates can change their exam centres during correction period.
Q 11. Whether candidates appeared for Paper-2 will be eligible for admission to B.Arch in IFs?
Ans. Paper-2 of the JEE Main is for the B.Arch and B.Planning. The candidates who appeared in paper-2 will be eligible for admission to NITs/SPAs and other CFTIs where B.Arch is available.
Q 12. How can Assam, J&K and Meghalaya candidates apply, having no Aadhar card?
Ans . Just they have to enter passport number, ration card number, bank account number number or any other valid Govt. identity number.
Q 13. My name in Aadhar card is not exactly similar or not in same pattern as in school records. Which name I have to enter? Will it create problem later on?
Ans. Such candidate have to enter the name which is written in the passing certificate of 10th class and should submit a correction request to Aadhar centre and apply for JEE Main by entering 14 digits Aadhar Enrolment ID printed on the slip that is being issued by Aadhar centre after submitting updation request.
Q 14. Can NIOS candidates apply?
Ans. Yes candidates passed/appearing in class 12th from National Institute of open schooling can apply. They should select the state of eligibility according to the state in which ttheir study centre is located.
Q 15. I’ve passed 12th in March 2015, Am I eligible for JEE 2018?
Ans. No, this candidate is not eligible. Candidates appearing in the final examination of 12th in 2018can apply and also those candidates who have appeared and passed 12th in 2016 and 2017 can apply for JEE 2018.
Q 16. Can I get the question paper in Hindi language?
Ans. Yes. JEE (Advanced) 2017 offers question papers in two languages: English and Hindi. Candidates have to choose the language option during the JEE (Advanced) 2017 registration.
Q 17. Can I get question papers in English as well as in Hindi?
Ans. Candidates will get only one question paper - either English question paper or Hindi question paper but not both.
Q 18. Writing Paper-1 and Paper-2 in JEE (Advanced) compulsory?
Ans. Yes, it is compulsory. If a candidate is absent in one of the papers, then the candidate will be considered as absent from the examination.
Q 19. How can I get reservation benefit under OBC(NCL) category in JEE (Advanced)?
Ans. If your parents’ income falls under NON-CREAMY LAYER (NCL) of the other backwards classes (OBC), then you are eligible for the OBC (NCL) quota. If you do not fall under NCL, then do not tick the OBC(NCL) button.
Q 20. During examination can I modify my answers bubbled on ORS?
Ans. No. Since the bubbling on ORS is done using only black ball point pen, candidates cannot modify the answers once bubbled.
Q 21. If I am absent in one of the papers, will my result be declared?
Ans. You will be considered absent from the examination and will be disqualified to receive the result. It is compulsory for you to appear in both the papers.
Q 22. Am I required to provide finger prints to appear in JEE (Advanced)?
Ans. Yes, an important part of the pre-exam procedure is taking a fingerprint of your index finger. Remember the same fingerprint is used when you come for the seat acceptance after qualifying in the examination.
Q 23. What care I need to take for providing finger prints to appear in JEE (Advanced) ?
Ans. This is best done if your hands are clean and you have not used any oil/ cream.
Q 24. Is there any dress code to appear in JEE (Advanced)?
Ans. Do not wear unnecessary things such as rings, chains, bangles, ear-rings or a modern watch. A simple analogue watch is permitted so that you can have the estimate of time.
