SSC CGL: Physical standards for the post of Inspector & Sub-Inspector

SSC CGL exam recruits candidates on various posts under several ministries and government departments such as Income tax office, Central excise, Central secretariat, Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of railways, Ministry of external affairs, CBDT, CBEC, Department of post, NIA, etc. As you know, there are some physical requirements for some posts under this entry for male and female candidates.

In this article, we are providing you the details of the physical standards laid by SSC in its recent notification. Let us take a look-

SSC CGL 2017: Post wise physical standards

There are only few posts for which these standards are required. These are mentioned in below-

  1. Central excise inspector
  2. Examiner
  3. Preventive officer
  4. Inspector in Central bureau of Narcotics
  5. Sub-Inspector in Central bureau of Narcotics

Now, we will discuss these parameters separately for the said posts. Let us find out:-

Physical standards for the post of Inspector in Central Excise, Examiner, preventive officer, Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN are as follows-

Physical Standards

i. Height: Male- 157.5 cms & Female- 152 cms.
ii. Chest: 81 cms for Male (Minimum expansion of 5 cms.)
iii. Weight: 48 kg for Female candidates

Physical Test

Male

  1. Walking : 1600 meters in 15 minutes
  2. Cycling : 8 km In 30 minutes

Female

  1. Walking: 1 Km. in 20 minutes
  2. Cycling: 3 Km in 25 minutes

Note:

-          Relaxable Height for male is 5 cms & 2.5 cms for female in case of Garwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and scheduled tribes.

-           Women belongs to these categories are also relaxed with 2 kg of weight additionally.

-          Persons with disabilities will have to meet the physical standards prescribed above. However, for orthopedically disabled candidates are relaxed from the physical test i.e. Walking is not insisted for OA and OAL categories and Cycling for OA, OL & OAL categories.

Physical standards for the post of Sub-inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation are stated here below.

i.  Height: Male- 165 cms. & Female- 150 cms (Height is discountable for hills men and tribal up to 5cms.)

ii. Chest: 76cms with expansion for male candidates. There is no such requirement for female candidates.
iii. Vision: Distant vision of 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other. Near vision of 0.6 in one & 0.8 in other eye with or without glasses.

Physical standards for the post of Sub-inspector in National Investigation Agency are as follow-
i. Height: Male- 170 cms. & Female- 150 cms (Height is discountable for hills men and tribal up to 5cms.)
ii. Chest: 76 cms with expansion for male candidates. There is no such requirement for female candidates.
iii. Vision: Distant vision of 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other. Near vision of 0.6 in one & 0.8 in other eye with or without glasses.

It is advised by the commission that candidates make sure before opting for any category of the post, they fulfill all the requirements. The physical measurements will be conducted by the indenting departments and only those candidate, who meet the requirements  will be eligible for the respective posts. No request from the candidates for allotting to any other category and service will not be considered. So, Be careful before filling these posts as your preferences.
