The IIT roar has now taken another stream of discussion, but this one may actually turn out to be a student friendly decision. Students who took the board exams in 2012 but did not score well will now get a second chance to improve their school performance in 2013, which is the year of introduction of the new common engineering entrance test format for admission to IITs and central technical institutes.
The relaxation was announced on 28 June 2012 after a day-long meeting of the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE) which constitutes the members of CBSE and other state boards.
The idea is to provide a second chance to those who attempted IIT-JEE in 2012, but failed to get through. The students can take class XII exams in 2013 and improve their school scores to compete again. The other piece of news is, JEE Advanced, will be offered in both online and pen-and-paper format.
With all the heated arguments doing the rounds in the IIT scuffle, this news will enable a lot of students to try their luck again. This is surely one golden chance students wouldn’t want to miss.
