The top-three Indian Institute of Management (i.e. Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta) have collaborated to create a world-class journal.
On Saturday, 3rd December 2016, during the concluding day of the 3rd edition of Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), an alumni meet was held at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. In this meeting several alumni from IIM Ahmedabad debated on the idea to come up with a common research journal in collaboration with the top three IIMs of the country.
During the panel discussion which was taking place under the theme “Voices of recent Alumni: Enhancing Value of Fellow Programme in Management”, former IIM Calcutta Director and FPM alumni Shekhar Chaudhari said that “they have reached a point where at least the top three institutes can think about making these journals. Students of the FPM programme can have a role in this task as well”.
Another proposal was put forward by FPM alumni that suggested 3-4 IIMs come together under one editorship. He also proposed that onus of editorship can rotate every year from one IIM to another and they can come-up with one world-class journal. 3 journals were proposed in the meeting namely Vikalpa (IIMA), IIMB Management Review, also known as IMR and Decision (IIMC).
