Giving high hopes to the Indian Universities, two Indian universities have made it to the list of to 40 universities in the Times Higher Education Brics and Emerging Economies rankings. There are 11 other Indian universities which have found their place in the top 100 rankings. In the rankings of 2015 there are around 18 countries which have featured in the list. There are almost 15 universities from countries like Chile, China, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia and Turkey who have made it to the list for the first time.
China with its continuing dominance has 27 universities making it to the top 100 list is on top of the table. It has also bagged the second place in the list. Last year the number of institutes securing their place in the top 100 was 23.
Names Included in the List
India has made progress from last year in the list and Indian Institute of Science is placed in 25th place and Institute of Technology Bombay is placed at 37th spot, with 11 universities making its place in the top 100 list. Apart from the IITs, Punjab University, JNU and Aligarh Muslim University is on the list of top 100 institutes in the ranking table. Though, none of the Indian university/institution could make it to the top 10.
The rankings are given after accessing various factors that consists of making a good institute a better one. The teaching methodology, research options, knowledge transfer and international outlook of the universities are some of the aspects on which the rankings depended. Peking University and Tsinghua University from China retained the top two positions in the list.
