UPSC Prelims 2024: How to Calculate Marks Based on Answer Key

To calculate the marks from the answer key, download the answer key, match your answers, give marks as per the scheme, deduct for wrong responses wherever applicable, and sum up to calculate the estimated marks. Follow the steps below.

1. Download the answer key.
2. Match the answers marked in the examination to the answers provided in PDF.
3. For each correct answer, allocate the assigned marks per the paper's marking scheme.
4. If there is no negative marking, you can give each correct answer full marks. If negative marking is used, deduct the negative marks for each wrong response.
5. Add all the marks for the correct answer and deduct the marks for the incorrect answer according to the paper marking scheme. 
6. The resulting score will be your estimated mark.

UPSC Prelims 2024 Answer Key Paper 1: Marks Calculation 

UPSC Prelims unofficial answer key will be used to calculate the rough marks, follow the steps below to calculate the marks 

• Download the answer key PDF of your set.
• Match the answers marked in the examination to the answers provided in PDF (Make sure you are matching answers with the provided set)
• For each correct answer, you can +2 marks can be awarded and for each incorrect answer, 0.66 marks can be deducted
• No marks will be awarded or deducted for questions unattempted.
• Let's say on a paper of 100 questions, you have answered 74 questions correctly and 16 questions incorrectly. Then your marks will be calculated as 

74 * 2 = 148

16 * 0.66 = 10.56

The final Marks will be 148 - 10.56 = 137.44

UPSC Prelims 2024 Paper 2 Answer Key: Marks Calculation 

The CSAT unofficial answer key by Drishti IAS to calculate rough scores in GS Paper 2. Follow the steps below to check the steps

• Download the answer key PDF.
• Match the answers marked in the examination to the answers provided in PDF.
• For each correct answer, allocate 2.5 marks and for each incorrect answer deduct 0.83 marks
• Let's say on a paper of 80 questions you have answered 52 questions correctly and 28 questions incorrect
• Then your marks will be calculated as 

52 * 2.5 = 130

20 * 0.83 = 16.6

The final Marks will be 130 - 16.6 = 113.4
