West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE):
About:
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is the Common Entrance Test for admission to different degree level courses in Medical, Dental, Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in Universities, Government Colleges as well as Self Financing Technological Institutes in West Bengal. The test can be taken after the 12th grade for admission to graduation (also known as Bachelors) courses. The exam can be taken by those who studied Pure Science stream in plus two level with the specific subjects tested in the examination, which are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

  • Option-I: Engg/Tech/Arch/Pharm; Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry (Type E)
  • Option-II: Medical/Dental/Pharm; Biological Sciences, Physics, Chemistry (Type M)
  • Option-III: Engg/Tech/Arch/Pharm/Medical/Dental; Biological Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry (Type C)

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be at least 17 (seventeen) years. There is no upper age limit.
  • Candidates must pass Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 level) or its equivalent examination from recognized counsil or board with:
  • Individual pass marks in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/a Technical Vocational Subject (Engineering Drawing / Computer Science)
  • Minimum of 45% marks in the above subjects taken together (40% for SC/ST/PwD/OBC candidates) as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination.

Exam pattern:

  • Question paper would consist of three subjects, Math, Chemistry and Physics.
  • There will be three categories of questions, category 1, category 2 and category 3.
  • Questions in every category would be of objective type where candidates have to select the correct answers from the given set of options.
  • Category 1 and category 2 questions would be of 1 marks and 2 marks respectively with only one option correct.
  • Category 3 questions would be of 2 marks as well but each question would have multiple correct answers.
  • As per the marking, for every incorrect answer, 1/3 marks will be deducted from entrance exam score.
  • For category 3 questions, marking would be done by the following formula:2 x (Number of correct options)/Total Number of correct options
