Akshaya Tritiya was celebrated with religious fervour on 6 May 2011. In Rajasthan, the day is also known for child marriages but the state government made all arrangements to check child marriages. Moreover, many charitable trust and NGOs are organising mass marriages to discourage child marriage. Child and Women Empowerment department and police were also vigilant to stop child marriages. In Madhya Pradesh also special vigil was kept to prevent child marriages on Akshay Tritiya.
